Our Next Big Step

Toward the beginning of this year we merged our two congregations back together in an effort to reposition ourselves for long term growth and impact into the Bay Area of Houston. One of the driving reasons for the merge was the evident need for OneLife to acquire our own property as we continue to grow.

Little did we know things would happen this quickly. We have now entered into contract with League City United Methodist Church to purchase their vacant church building where they used to meet off of FM518 and I-45. The asking price for this property was $3.5 million, and we are purchasing it for significantly less at $2.1 million. We’re buying a fixer upper, but once renovated, it will serve us well as our church continues to grow. The property sits on 5 acres and has over 32,000 square feet of building space, which is more than double the space we presently have. We see this building as a tool to help us continue to make much of Jesus in the Bay Area of Houston for years to come.

Currently, we are in the process of raising the needed down payment before we close. In total, we need $550,000. We are able to allocate $150,000 from our reserves which brings the needed remainder to $400,000. On Sunday, September 16th is what we’re calling our “Big Give Day” where we’re asking all of the people that are part of or connected to OneLife to help us raise the needed funds. On this day we’re encouraging people to either give a one time gift, which you can do by using the button at the bottom of this page, or to fill out a commitment card of what they’re intending on giving before November 30th.
This is a large amount of money in a short window of time, and it is no small issue. These are exciting times for OneLife and we have a clear sense that God is leading our steps. We’re trusting God as we move forward and asking people to sacrificially and generously give.
We’d like to invite you to prayerfully consider participating in our next big step! If you have any questions feel free to contact us.
